The Manifesto 2012

Campaign for a Fair Society launches Manifesto

The Campaign launched its Manifesto at the House of Lords on 12 March 2012.

The Manifesto:

  • says that the government’s cuts are unfair – they target disabled people and those living in poverty
  • explains how the cuts are inefficient – they will create more crises and new costs
  • shows how the government could do things differently
  • makes eight proposals for a fairer society.

Working Together for a Fair Society

>A Workshop for Campaign members to shape the strategy, action and framework of the Campaign

June 9th 2011
10.30am – 4.00pm
Oasis UK, The Oasis Centre, 75 Westminster Bridge Road
Lambeth, London, SE1 7HS

Cost:    £20 contribution (this includes covering the cost of your lunch)

The Campaign for a Fair Society has over fifteen hundred members.  We are gathering stories demonstrating how some of society’s most vulnerable people are unfairly losing out.

This workshop will be facilitated for members of the Campaign for a Fair Society to shape the strategy of the Campaign and create a positive future.

The day will include:

  • An introduction and update on the Campaign by Simon Duffy (Centre for Welfare Reform).  This will include an overview of the Campaign’s submission to the Joint Committee on Human Rights.
  • Conversations facilitated by Sally Warren (Paradigm),  Steven Rose (Choice Support), Bob Tindall (United Response) and others to engage participants in the development of the Campaign.

Conversations will include the opportunity to:

  • Hear about and share what we are learning in terms of legal challenges.
  • Consider how we develop the Campaign to mobilise popular support and grow its membership.
  • Reviews the manifesto developed by Campaign members in Scotland and consider its adoption in England.
  • Seek ideas and agreement in relation to the governance and organisation of the Campaign.
  • Share stories of positive innovations.
